I began my career writing on behalf of and running media outreach for a U.S. Senator in Washington, D.C. Following graduate school, I worked as a journalist in St. Paul, Detroit, and Chicago—leading teams in progressively broader roles until overseeing the content and editing operations of a national public affairs magazine.
In years since I leveraged that history to develop and execute strategic communications to benefit nonprofit and commercial enterprises.
Here’s what I do.
Develop research-based outreach strategies that succeed across geographical and cultural spectra
Ghostwrite talking points, speeches and op-eds to reach and influence donors and external stakeholders
Serve as an organizational journalist and interview SMEs to turn complex subjects into accessible and engaging copy
Write magnet words, landing pages and voiceover scripts for multiplatform content
Produce donor engagement materials and orchestrate events
Use keywords and analytics to identify content opportunities and measure success
Work collaboratively to deliver great results on time and within budget
Now who I am.
When not working I generally can be found at the bark park with Betty the Basenji. Providing a good home to secondhand hounds is my heart's passion—and the subject of my children's book, a rhyming whimsy featuring such word pairings as "regret" and "toilet," and "work" and "berserk.”
